Carob Tree (Ceratonia siliqua)
Carob Tree (Ceratonia siliqua) is a hardy, evergreen shade tree growing approx. 5–10 m high and 5–8 m wide, depending on growing conditions and placement in suburban to urban gardens. Typically grown from seedlings, plants may be male, female or bisexual, and this can’t be determined until they mature and begin flowering, so planting a few is ideal to help ensure reliable fruit set. Flowering in autumn in Australian conditions, it thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and is highly drought tolerant once established, requiring minimal pruning.
